Shannon Mazer, D.O.
Dr. Mazer is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biochemistry. While in Boulder she fell in love with Colorado and enrolled at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She was fortunate enough to be a part of the Rural and Wilderness Medicine Honors Track, where she gained additional experience in the rural clinic and hospital, and received additional classroom time learning bout rural medicine. She respects the intricacy and scope of Internal Medicine and aspires to its practice because it involves a breadth of fields and disease system which allows the physician the opportunity to care for adults with a wide variety of ailments and to follow patients throughout their disease course. With a myriad of diseases, Internal Medicine stresses the importance of broad differentials, and insists on intense intellectual inspection of each patient. Internal Medicine is the backbone of healthcare and she is excited to be studying at Sky Ridge Hospital and Rocky Vista Health Center.
She also feels fortunate that this residency is also in a place she now calls home. Her husband is a firefighter for the City and County and they own a home here and with the support she receives from this community, she feels well situated to dedicate her energies towards this program and grow into the best Internal Medicine physician she can be.
In her free time she enjoys mountain biking, camping, hiking, running Crossfit, spending time with her family and dogs, snowboarding, showshoeing, reading, eating and working on her house.
