Nicoleta Rus, M.D.

Highly dedicated and compassionate, Dr. Nicoleta Rus brings 17 years of experience from two specialties, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, to Rocky Vista University Resident Continuity Clinic, focusing now on primary care and teaching. Her experience as an Emergency Medicine physician in Romania taught her the importance of preventive care to reduce critical situations prompting ER visits. A genuine listener, she is known for building trusting relationships with her patients, through her comprehensive and empathetic approach in all clinical settings, whether urgent or routine.

A life-long learner, Dr. Rus completed her second medical residency, this time in Internal Medicine in Texas, at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Dr. Rus mastered general primary care, with particular emphasis in cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology and rheumatology. During her residency training, Dr. Rus was recognized for teaching abilities and leadership skills; she trained fellow residents, interns and medical students. Also dedicated to science and evidence-based medicine, she collaborated in genetic engineering research in the design of Chimeric Antigen Receptor, generation of Gamma Delta T-cells, and successful “knockout” of ABL/BCR gene through CRISPR CAS9-sgRNA technology in lab research.

Dr. Rus has published extensively, and presented at national and international conferences. In 2020, she was honored with the Travel Award for best publication at the Southern Regional Meeting, New Orleans, Louisiana and with the Teaching Apple Award, by Texas Tech University in 2018.

Beyond her professional life, Dr. Rus enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is excited to return to Colorado, where her enthusiasm for outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, skating and fishing can be realized. She loves dancing and Zumba, becoming a Zumba instructor in 2015 while promoting a healthy lifestyle in her community. Dr. Rus is an avid traveler, having visited 4 continents and 15 countries. She hopes to resume traveling and exploring the many different countries and cultures of our world. Dr. Rus enjoys cooking, and likes to try new recipes and cuisines. She has even done cooking classes with her patients - we hope she will begin this activity here at Rocky Vista Health Center! Multicultural, Dr. Rus is fluent in English, Romanian, and French, with basic Spanish and Italian.
